After a bit of work, some adjusting and replacing the cams the bow was working pretty well. I was really enjoying shooting it.
I joined Nuse River Bow Hunters.  They have a archery range out to 50 yards in 10 yard increments starting at 20 yards. They also have 20 3D targets on a course. I had never heard of 3D archery but have tried it now and really enjoy it.

Even though I am really enjoying my compound bow I am sort of miss shooting the recurve so I have gotten a Hoyt recurve bow and set it up for Olympic shooting. I am not sure if I will try to compete in Olympic contests but I want to learn to shoot this way.

My Archery Adventure

Background is not a photo of me, I just like it

Several months ago I ran across some item on Facebook about archery and remembered how much I enjoyed it as a youngster.
So I ordered a bow, a dozen arrows, a quiver, arm guard and three finger glove. The bow was a Recurve take down bow, something that did not exist when I was a youngster. The arrows were Aluminum which did exist when I was a youngster but I never owned any. they were a bit costly. I was sort of good at it with my fiberglass bow and wooden arrows - I even got my Boy Scout Merit badge.
I then went looking for somewhere to shoot. I found a place in North Raleigh called NC Hunting. - they had and indoor range and yes I could shoot there for $7 and hour.
I found after just a little practice at 20 yards I was till pretty good 90% of my arrows were in the center or 9 ring. But I was having some trouble with my bow. I took a beginners class and when trying to use the information about proper technique and form I found I was just not able to do it.  I asked one of the ladies who work there part time and she said she had been watching me and that my bow was too short for me, that it was just not possible to pull the string back far enough to get to my anchor point.
I did a little research and found out that my bow had a maximum draw length of 28" and I found out that my proper draw length is 31.5". It does not sound like a lot but it is. So I decided to sell my bow and get a bow that would fix me. Also I decided that I want one that would fit in the hunting blind so that meant a Compound bow. I had never thought much of the compound bows but it was what I needed so I bought an Elite Energy 35. A bit to my surprise I really liked this bow.

To the Elite I added a a 5 arrow side mount quiver, a Whisker Biscuit arrow rest, a front Bee-Stinger stabilizer bar(later I added a rear left side stabilizer also) and a Black Gold 4 pin sight.
